Ol Lentille Lodge
Set in a protected 40,000 acre conservation areal, Ol Lentille Lodge is a beautiful lodge with 360 degree views from one of the highest points in the Laikipia region.
Regarded by many as the most unique accommodation in Kenya, the property comprises four architect designed villas, each with its own distinctive aesthetic. Designed to suit couples, friends and families alike, the villas are all positioned along the mountain ridge, offering complete privacy and uninterrupted panoramic views.
The collection includes one one bedroom villa, two two bedroom villas and one three bedroom villa. Each villa features generous lounge and dining areas, as well as expansive terraces that open onto sweeping landscapes. Selected villas also include private plunge pools. Every residence is supported by a dedicated host and housekeeper, ensuring a highly personalised and seamless experience throughout each stay.
Private game drives allow guests to experience the wildlife of the 40,000 acre conservancy at close range. The area has been carefully rewilded and is now home to species such as elephant, leopard, hyena and greater kudu, as well as endangered animals including the African wild dog, Grevy’s zebra and gerenuk. It also serves as an important migration corridor, playing a vital role in the wider ecosystem of northern Kenya.
Although unfenced, the conservancy is protected around the clock by dedicated rangers, funded through a conservation fee contributed by guests. This forms part of a pioneering community based conservation initiative that ensures local communities benefit directly from protecting the land and its wildlife.
Guests often combine a stay here with a visit to the Maasai Mara, and can also enjoy guided walking experiences led by Samburu and Maasai warriors. These walks provide a deeper cultural perspective and an opportunity to explore the landscape in a more immersive and meaningful way.
Situated on the far northern escarpment at one of the highest points of the Laikipia Plateau, the property commands what many consider to be the finest views in East Africa. From every villa, guests can take in sweeping vistas of Mount Kenya, alongside the sacred mountain of Ololokwe, the Matthews Range and the Karisia Hills.
To ensure an exceptional experience, each stay includes a private team comprising a guide, host, housekeeper and night askari. Guests also enjoy exclusive use of a private game viewing vehicle and full access to the conservancy, an expansive wilderness nearly three times the size of Manhattan, where the sense of privacy and exclusivity is absolute.

Why this Camp..?
(According to Google Reviews)
The Sanctuary at Ol Lentille in Laikipia, Kenya, is highly acclaimed for its exceptional staff, private tailored experiences, and stunning panoramic views, with many calling it a top-tier "fairytale" destination. The resort offers luxury villa living with private butlers, a strong focus on conservation, and a wide range of activities including camel-riding and community visits.
Key Takeaways from Reviews:
Exceptional Service & Staff: Guests frequently rave about the personal attention, with private staff and guides described as accommodating, friendly, and family-like.
Villas & Amenities: The property features four, recently renovated (2022), exclusive villas, each with private staff, a pool, and a library. The "Eyrie" villa is noted for being perfect for honeymooners, offering an outdoor tub.
Unique Activities: Beyond standard game drives, guests enjoy guided hikes, camel safaris, and quad biking, along with meaningful cultural visits to local villages.
Nature & Wildlife: Located in a 40,000-acre conservancy, it offers a quieter, less crowded wildlife experience than a typical "big 5" Mara reserve, with plenty of opportunities to see elephants, giraffes, and monkeys.
Dining: Meals are personalized, often served in unique locations (bush breakfasts, sundowners) and can be tailored to specific dietary needs.
Things to Consider: The resort uses solar power, so power usage can be limited. While many reviewers love the unique, rustic design, some noted inconsistencies in the design or layout of certain areas.
Conclusion:
Ol Lentille is consistently described as a "once in a lifetime" experience or "one of the best" places in Kenya, perfect for those seeking intimacy, luxury, and authentic cultural immersion rather than a crowded, mass-tourism safari.
