Claire Freeland - Founder
Claire has spent many years working in the travel industry, with experience that spans destinations across the globe. Africa, however, remains her greatest passion. Over the years, she has enjoyed countless safari adventures throughout the continent, from luxury camps and lodges in Kenya and South Africa to riding and walking safaris in Botswana’s Okavango Delta and Zambia’s remote wilderness.
Among the highlights of her travels was a stay at the extraordinary Greystoke Mahale, where she trekked through the forest in search of wild chimpanzees - an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. She has also had the privilege of trekking to see mountain gorillas in Rwanda, one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife encounters, and climbing the towering red sand dunes of Sossusvlei in Namibia, witnessing some of the continent’s most spectacular desert landscapes.
Claire has canoed along the Zambezi River, volunteered on wildlife conservation projects, and explored some of Africa’s most remote and untouched regions. Whether travelling with family and friends, embarking on solo adventures, or joining specialist small-group safaris, she is always drawn by the opportunity to experience exceptional wildlife, authentic cultures, and meaningful adventures.
Her expertise is deeply rooted in safari travel, conservation, and community-based tourism, giving her a unique understanding of the destinations, people, and wildlife that make Africa so remarkable.
Tim Came
Africa is full of extraordinary guides, conservationists and safari professionals. Tim's role is not to replace them.
For many years he have travelled widely across Africa, drawn by its wildlife, landscapes, history and people. Those experiences have given him a deep affection for the continent and an enduring fascination with its stories. They have also taught him that the most memorable journeys are rarely defined simply by what you see, but by how well you understand the places you visit.
Tim hosts a small number of carefully planned journeys each year, travelling alongside guests and sharing the knowledge, anecdotes and perspectives gathered through decades of exploring Africa. His role is part storyteller, part travelling companion and part host: helping to bring context to the wildlife, history and cultures that make Africa such a remarkable destination.
These journeys are created in partnership with outstanding local safari operators and guides who live and work in Africa full-time. Their expertise on the ground is invaluable. Together they create experiences that combine exceptional guiding with the added dimension of travelling with someone who has spent a lifetime returning to Africa and remains as curious about it today as ever.
The emphasis is on small groups, genuine wilderness, authentic experiences and unhurried travel. Some guests will be returning to Africa after many years and looking to revisit favourite places. Others may be travelling for the first time and value the reassurance of having an experienced host throughout the journey. Many simply enjoy sharing their travels with like-minded people who are interested in wildlife, conservation, history and adventure.
Above all, these journeys are designed for people who want to experience Africa in good company, with time to absorb its landscapes, appreciate its wildlife and enjoy the stories that make each place unique. Quite simply, this is Africa through the eyes of someone who has spent a lifetime exploring, learning from and returning to one of the world's most extraordinary continents.
