Safaris in South Africa
The country that just keeps giving
South Africa has it all. From some of the most cosmopolitan towns in the world, to the famous Kruger National Park, stunning wildlife reserves and panoramic routes to winelands, there is something for everyone. If you haven't been, you need to!
National Parks & Private Reserves
Eastern Cape
The Eastern Cape offers superb opportunity for a slightly shorter safari combined with an incredible adventure along its coastline and part of the The Garden Route. It is home to the famous Shamwari Game Reserve and being malaria-free, it can be a great option for families. Perfect for those looking for a variety of things to do and absorb the true essence of South Africa.
Greater Kruger
The Greater Kruger refers to the protected land west of the Park, in the provinces of Limpopo & Mpumalanga. Formed of various private reserves, wildlife can roam freely now that fences to the park have been removed. The most well-known of these private game reserves are Balule, Klaserie, Timbavati, Kapama, Thornybush and Manyeleti.
Kruger National Park
One of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations, Kruger National Park offers unmatched biodiversity and Big Five sightings. Stretching over 19,000 square kms, it’s home to thriving populations of lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, and buffalo — as well as hundreds of bird and plant species. With a mix of luxury lodges and remote wilderness areas, Kruger is ideal for both first-time visitors and seasoned safari-goers.
Madikwe
Home to the Big 5, Madikwe is situated on the border with Botswana, close to the Kalahari Desert. This hidden gem is regarded as one of the best conservation areas in Africa and is a great alternative to the Kruger if you are looking for something a little more off the beaten track. With high quality accommodation and incredible game viewing, it is simply superb.
Sabi Sands
Renowned for its exclusive lodges and exceptional wildlife viewing, Sabi Sands offers one of the best chances to see the Big Five up close — especially leopards. Sharing an unfenced border with Kruger National Park, it combines luxury with rich biodiversity, guided by expert trackers and rangers for a truly intimate safari experience.
Western Cape
With Cape Town at its heart, The Western Cape is a dynamic region where cultures, flavours and experiences converge. From the Winelands to the beaches, to the rich fauna and flora, it offers everything from adrenaline-filled adventures to relaxing pastimes. It is home to Stellenbosch and includes part of The Garden Route
