Deloraine House

Steeped in history and surrounded by the spectacular landscapes of Kenya's Great Rift Valley, Deloraine House is one of Africa's finest examples of British colonial architecture. Built in 1921 by Lord Francis Scott and his wife, Lady Eileen Scott, the estate has remained a place of elegance, heritage, and warm hospitality for over a century.

Set on the lower slopes of Londiani Mountain, the 6,000-acre estate enjoys breathtaking views across the western edge of the Great Rift Valley. In the early 1990s, the Voorspuy family made Deloraine their home. Today, although welcoming a limited number of guests each year, the house retains the warmth and charm of a private family residence, offering an intimate and authentic country-house experience.

Deloraine House features four beautifully appointed double bedrooms, some of which can accommodate an additional child, alongside a fifth twin bedroom. Each room has its own private bathroom and enjoys the timeless character of the original home.

An adjoining guest cottage provides three additional double or twin en-suite rooms, making the property ideal for larger families or groups travelling together. For those requiring even more space, a separate fully furnished four-bedroom farmhouse on the neighbouring estate is occasionally available.

Deloraine is a paradise for horse lovers and one of Kenya's premier equestrian destinations. Home to up to 90 horses - including safari horses, polo ponies, broodmares, young horses, eventers, and racehorses - the estate offers outstanding facilities for riders of all abilities.

Guests can enjoy relaxed rides through the farm and surrounding countryside, improve their skills on a dedicated polo ground and cross-country course, or use Deloraine as the perfect base before or after an unforgettable horseback safari with Offbeat or Sosian.
