Namiri Plains Camp

Namiri Plains Camp

Namiri Plains Camp offers adventure in an off-grid Eastern Serengeti with a feeling of complete isolation, something sometimes hard to find in Tanzania.

Namiri Plains is a luxurious, secluded safari retreat set in the remote eastern grasslands of the Serengeti, one of Africa’s premier destinations for big cat encounters. Once closed to visitors for over 20 years to support cheetah conservation, this region is now home to extraordinary populations of lion, cheetah, and leopard, making it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike.

Nestled along the Ngare Nanyuki River, Namiri offers a rare blend of tranquility and thrilling wildlife experiences. Whether you're embarking on dawn-to-dusk game drives, walking safaris, or specialised photographic safaris in custom-designed vehicles, your journey is guided by experts who know these plains intimately—they were the first to explore and protect this landscape.

The camp features 11 elegantly designed tented suites, including a refurbished family suite, each with sliding glass doors, spacious private decks, and outdoor resin bathtubs overlooking the savannah. Built with stone from ancient volcanic ash, the suites are naturally insulated for comfort, blending luxury with the raw beauty of the bush.

When you're not out exploring, relax by the inviting swimming pool, curl up with a book in the library, or enjoy a revitalising treatment in the wonderful spa. Every detail is designed to ensure both comfort and immersion, creating a home that feels deeply connected to its surroundings.

From October to May, Namiri also offers access to the Great Migration, with wildebeest and zebra sometimes passing right by camp—or a short drive away in the southern plains—adding yet another layer to this exceptional wildlife destination. At Namiri Plains, you’ll find solitude without sacrifice, luxury without pretence, and some of Africa’s most exciting wildlife viewing, all in a landscape that few get to explore.
