Kiba Point Camp

Kiba Point Camp

A wonderfully private hideaway in the heart of Nyerere National Park, Kiba Point is an exclusive camp where other travellers are few and far between. Truly off-the-beaten-track safaris in Tanzania.

Decades of exploring Tanzania have taught Nomad that one of the greatest privileges of a safari isn’t just what you see - it’s the space, silence, and freedom to experience it all on your own terms. At Kiba Point, a private retreat deep in the heart of the Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous), that privilege becomes your daily reality.

This is a safari base for grown-up families or close friends who want their own space in one of Africa’s largest and most wildlife-rich reserves. With a team of expert guides, exclusive-use vehicles and boats, and a secluded riverside camp all to yourselves, Kiba Point offers immersive, life-changing experiences—without compromise.

Days here are flexible and unstructured, shaped entirely around your group’s interests. Head out on early morning game drives, cruise the Rufiji River by boat, or take a slow, guided walk through the bush. Whether it’s birdwatching, identifying medicinal plants, tracking elephant on foot, or spotting crocodiles sliding into the water like something out of a movie, everything here is up close, personal, and real.

Walking is one of the most profound ways to understand this landscape. The details come alive: insects humming in the undergrowth, leopard tracks pressed into the sand, the wind moving through tall grass. And every so often, you’ll emerge at a hidden waterhole, a place where even the biggest animals stop to drink.

When the time comes to slow down, Kiba Point offers plenty of indulgent pleasures too: fishing in the swirling Rufiji, a soak in nearby natural hot springs, or lunch from a treetop hide as wildlife wanders past below. And when the day winds down, drift gently downriver as hippos grunt, fish eagles soar, and the golden light filters through the trees.

Kiba Point is about unfiltered Africa - raw and beautiful, with just enough comfort to make it all deeply enjoyable. Here, you won’t just watch the wild. You’ll feel part of it.
