Entamanu Ngorongoro Camp
Unspoilt, unparalleled experience on the exclusive side of the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, Entamanu Lodge is simply superb.
Entamanu Ngorongoro is set on the remote northwestern edge of the Ngorongoro Crater rim, just beyond the Seneto descent road. Accessed via a private track, the camp offers complete seclusion and uninterrupted views—yet is perfectly positioned for easy descent into the Crater.
This is the wild side of the Crater, where few venture and exclusivity reigns. One side of the camp opens to sweeping views into the Ngorongoro Crater, especially beautiful at sunrise. On the other, the vast Serengeti stretches into the horizon, offering front-row seats to unforgettable sundowners. Expect a dramatic climate: strong high-altitude sun by day, cold nights, and wind that can whip across the rim—warm layers are essential year-round.
Entamanu Ngorongoro features seven cottage-style rooms, all raised on wooden platforms to maximise the views and minimize environmental impact. Three of these are two-bedroom family units, designed with two full-size bedrooms, ideal for small groups or families. Each room is fitted with indoor heating, en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, and flush toilets—a considered blend of comfort and sustainability in this elemental environment.
Entamanu means "circle" in Maa, and fittingly, this is the only place in the world where you can see both into the Ngorongoro Crater and out across the Serengeti from one camp. This unique location offers a raw and unfiltered Crater experience, combined with deep cultural and ecological immersion. It’s not just a base for game drives—it’s a place to connect with the landscape and the stories that shape it.
Days are flexible and guided by your interests. Venture into the Crater on expertly led game drives, explore the surrounding highlands on foot, or take in the views over a bush picnic or sundowner. For a cultural connection, visit the neighbouring Maasai communities, gaining insight into the people who have long lived in harmony with this land.
Children aged 8 and above are welcome at Entamanu Ngorongoro. For guided walks, a minimum age of 12 years is required.
