Kokoko Camp
In the prime untamed wilderness area of Ruaha National Park in Tanzania, Kokoko Camp focuses entirely on the magnificent wildlife and experiences of the moment
In the remote and untamed wilderness of Ruaha National Park, Kokoko Camp invites you to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect—with nature, with loved ones, and with the essence of true safari. Designed for exclusive private use by up to six guests, this intimate camp offers an authentic, slow safari experience that emphasizes mindfulness, immersion, and simplicity.
Your journey is tailored by top private guides, ensuring every moment—from walking safaris along the dry Mwagusi River to day and night game drives—is crafted around your interests. Walk where few others do, exploring ancient trails beneath baobabs and fig trees, encountering elephants, predators, and the hidden details of the African bush.
Accommodation is in just three expedition-style tents, open and airy with mosquito mesh walls and retractable canvas roofs, allowing for uninterrupted stargazing from your bed. Each tent offers a private veranda, en suite bathroom, outdoor bucket shower, and views over the Mwagusi Riverbed.
Meals are cooked over open flames and served outdoors whenever possible, and dinners in the riverbed, lit only by lanterns and starlight, are unforgettable. The camp’s unassuming style puts the natural world at the forefront, enhancing every sound, scent, and sight around you.
Kokoko is seasonal, open only in the dry months, when wildlife viewing is at its peak and walking safaris are at their finest. Elephant-dug waterholes attract game in extraordinary numbers, while predators lie in wait nearby—creating the kind of thrilling encounters Ruaha is known for. Whether you’re walking beneath cathedral-like baobabs, gazing at constellations from your bed, or listening to the stillness of the bush, Kokoko Camp is a place to slow down, tune in, and experience the wild—as it should be.
