Maninghi Lodge

Set on the banks of the Olifants River in Balule Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger, Maninghi Lodge offers a peaceful riverside base from which to experience the wildlife and landscapes of South Africa’s Lowveld.

The lodge enjoys spectacular views along a three-kilometre stretch of the Olifants River, backed by the mountains of the Blyde River Canyon. Elephants, hippos and other wildlife are frequent visitors to the river, while the surrounding reserve is home to the Big Five and an impressive diversity of mammals and birdlife.

Accommodation includes comfortable en-suite lodge rooms and two safari tents overlooking the river. The rooms offer air conditioning, Wi-Fi and tea and coffee facilities, while the tents provide a more relaxed, back-to-nature experience with comfortable beds, private patios and access to a shared bathroom.

The main lodge has an indoor dining area, bar and lounge, as well as an outdoor seating area overlooking the river. Its relaxed setting makes it well suited to couples, families and small groups looking for a quieter Greater Kruger experience.

Balule forms part of the Greater Kruger conservation landscape, where fences have been removed between neighbouring private reserves and Kruger National Park, allowing wildlife to move freely across a vast wilderness. Game drives offer the chance to encounter lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino, alongside abundant plains game and more than 430 bird species.
