Ongava Lodge

Ongava Lodge is a wonderful hilltop hideaway in the heart of The Private Ongava Game Reserve, bordering Etosha National Park. With 14 spacious ensuite chalets, it blends beautifully into its surroundings.

Ongava Lodge redefines luxury through space, stillness, and an extraordinary connection to the surrounding wilderness. Perched high on a rocky ridge, the lodge commands sweeping views across the reserve, where every horizon invites a deeper appreciation of the African bush.

Here, true luxury is found in the quiet moments. Watching rare and endangered wildlife from the comfort of a photographic hide. Listening to the sounds of the bush as day gives way to evening. Discovering the freedom that comes from being immersed in nature without sacrificing comfort.

Set among the dolomite hills of Ondundozonanandana, a name rooted in local legend meaning "the mountain where the boy took the calves," Ongava Lodge features fourteen spacious ensuite chalets crafted from natural rock and thatch, blending effortlessly into their surroundings. Each chalet offers generous living space, air conditioning, and a peaceful retreat overlooking the landscape beyond.

At the heart of the lodge, the dining area opens onto two expansive viewing decks overlooking a waterhole regularly visited by rhino and a variety of other wildlife. Review

Why this Camp..?

(According to Google Reviews)

Ongava Lodge consistently earns high marks for its prime location right beside the Andersson Gate of Etosha National Park. Guests rave about the prolific waterhole viewing, the comfortable, elevated thatched chalets, and the exclusive underground photography hide that lets you get incredibly close to local rhinos and lions.

Standout Highlights:

  • Wildlife & Game Drives: Unlike crowded public sectors in Etosha, the lodge is situated within a 74,000-acre private reserve. Guides take you off the main roads for more intimate wildlife tracking, including on-foot rhino tracking and night drives.

  • The Waterhole Hide: A major draw in reviews is the subterranean hide situated just meters from the lodge's primary watering hole. Guests can sit securely and take close-up photos of elephants, giraffes, and rhinos while they drink.

  • Rooms & Amenities: The property features 14 en-suite chalets crafted from rock, canvas, and thatch. Reviewers frequently highlight the large sheltered balconies, comfortable beds, and both indoor and outdoor showers.

  • Dining & Service: Meals are generally described as excellent and are served deckside overlooking the waterhole.
