Khulu Bush Camp

Set on a private concession bordering Hwange National Park, Khulu Bush Camp is an authentic, characterful safari camp where warm hospitality and exceptional wildlife encounters take centre stage. Overlooking an ancient riverbed, or vlei, the camp offers a front-row seat to one of Hwange’s most memorable spectacles: elephants gathering at the famous waterhole. At times, as many as 150 elephants arrive around lunchtime and into the evening, creating an extraordinary opportunity to watch these magnificent animals at close quarters.

The unfenced setting means wildlife can move freely through the concession and around camp. Lions, buffalo, elephants and other wildlife may be seen from the main deck, around the waterhole or even from the comfort of your room. The camp’s photography hide provides another excellent vantage point, while two fireplaces offer the perfect place to relax with a drink and take in the ever-changing scene.

Khulu’s nine canvas-and-thatch rooms combine classic safari style with comfortable modern touches. Each has indoor and outdoor showers, a stocked minibar and coffee station, while the two honeymoon suites add freestanding bathtubs and views towards the waterhole. Guests can cool off in the swimming pool, gather around the campfire beneath the African stars, or simply enjoy the unhurried rhythm of life in the bush.
